https://ecoplan.ulm.ac.id/index.php/iesp/article/view/1228

Global economic instability triggered by the pandemic, geopolitical tensions, and tight monetary policies in developed countries have had a real impact on the weakening of the rupiah exchange rate and a decline in the purchasing power of the Indonesian people. In such conditions, gold is often regarded as a safe-haven asset capable of preserving wealth, particularly during periods of heightened economic uncertainty. This study aims to empirically analyse the role of gold as a safe haven amid the weakening of the rupiah exchange rate and the decline in consumer purchasing power. This study employs a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression. The secondary data used covers the period from January 2022 to April 2025, encompassing five variables: gold price (PG), rupiah exchange rate (KURS), inflation (INF), consumer price index (CPI), and real wages (RW). The data were analysed using EViews 13 software, through descriptive statistical tests, ADF stationarity tests, classical assumption tests, and t and F tests. The results indicate that the rupiah exchange rate has a positive and significant effect on gold prices, while inflation has a negative and significant effect. CPI and real wages do not have a significant effect on gold prices. The regression model has a coefficient of determination (R²) of 81.25%, indicating that most of the variation in gold prices can be explained by the independent variables. These findings confirm the role of gold as a hedge against rupiah depreciation, although not all purchasing power factors have a significant impact.
Abdul HalimDicky Perwira OmpusungguTiur Rosida Simbolon

https://ecoplan.ulm.ac.id/index.php/iesp/article/view/1251

This study aims to analyze the impact of sectoral credit distribution on sectoral performance and to assess the alignment of credit allocation with potential economic sectors in South Kalimantan. The methods used include the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) approach to examine the influence of sectoral credit on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), as well as Location Quotient (LQ), Shift Share Analysis (SSA), and Overlay Matrix to identify key sectors and evaluate the appropriateness of credit distribution. The study uses quarterly data from 2015 to 2024, including GRDP, sectoral credit, and Non-Performing Loans (NPL) for the OLS analysis. Meanwhile, the LQ and SSA analyses utilize data from 2015 and 2024. The results show that sectoral credit has a simultaneous and significantly positive effect on GRDP. However, alignment between credit distribution and potential sectors is only evident in Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries; Transportation, Warehousing and Communication; Accommodation and Food Services; and Health and Social Services. Other sectors were found to be underfunded or oversupplied in terms of credit allocation. These findings carry important implications for the formulation of more strategic and targeted banking intermediation policies. It is recommended that local governments and financial institutions direct credit more strategically toward local leading sectors to support sustainable and potential-based regional economic development.
Abdul AzizSaipudin SSyahrituah SiregarSri Maulida

https://ecoplan.ulm.ac.id/index.php/iesp/article/view/1268

This study aims to analyze the effect of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on economic growth by incorporating the mediating role of good governance. While FDI is widely regarded as a key driver of economic growth in developing countries, its effectiveness largely depends on the quality of institutions and governance frameworks. This study employs a quantitative approach using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method, based on Indonesia’s secondary data from 2002 to 2013, sourced from the World Development Indicators (WDI) and Worldwide Governance Indicators (WGI). Good governance is measured through six key dimensions: control of corruption, government effectiveness, political stability, rule of law, regulatory quality, and voice and accountability. The results indicate that FDI has a positive effect on good governance, and good governance significantly influences economic growth. In addition, FDI also exerts a direct effect on economic growth, although its magnitude is smaller than its indirect effect through governance. These findings suggest that good governance plays a crucial mediating role in strengthening the relationship between FDI and economic growth, while enhancing the effectiveness of foreign investment in improving productivity and economic capacity. This study contributes empirically by emphasizing the importance of institutional quality in maximizing the benefits of FDI. Policy implications highlight that improving governance quality particularly in regulatory frameworks, transparency, and law enforcement is essential for achieving inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
Fadeli Yusuf AfifUkhti Ciptawaty

https://ecoplan.ulm.ac.id/index.php/iesp/article/view/1299

Desinta Riski AzhariDana Azizah RahmatRatih AmeliaHujjatullah FazlurrahmanMuhammad Fachmi

2026-04-302026-04-3091496210.20527/ecoplan.v9i1.1299Environmental Factors, Gross Regional Domestic Product, and Underemployment in Indonesia
https://ecoplan.ulm.ac.id/index.php/iesp/article/view/1416

This study examines the relationship between forest fires, environmental quality, and regional economic performance on the underemployment rate in Indonesia, highlighting a limitation in the existing literature that tends to assume a direct relationship between environmental factors and labor market outcomes. In the context of developing economies characterized by a dominant informal sector, this study argues that environmental impacts on the labor market are not direct, but rather operate through adjustment mechanisms such as productivity changes and working hours. Using panel data covering 30 provinces over the period 2015–2024 and employing a Fixed Effects Model (FEM), the results show that environmental and economic variables jointly influence underemployment; however, only GRDP has a statistically significant and negative partial effect. Meanwhile, forest fire and environmental quality variables are not statistically significant. The negative coefficient of forest fires suggests the presence of labor market adjustment mechanisms or reflects underlying land-based economic activities that do not fully capture the direct environmental impact. The main contribution of this study lies in demonstrating that the underemployment indicator has limitations in capturing environmental impacts that are indirect, lagged, and spatially uneven. Therefore, this study offers a reinterpretation of the relationship between environmental factors and the labor market, where economic factors play a dominant role in the short run, while environmental factors operate through structural channels over the long term.
Nugraha PratamaAhmad Syaifullah

2026-04-302026-04-3091637510.20527/ecoplan.v9i1.1416Analysis of Frequency Distribution and Histogram of Inflation Rates in Indonesia for the Period 2020–2024
https://ecoplan.ulm.ac.id/index.php/iesp/article/view/1452

This study analyzes Indonesia’s monthly inflation rates from January 2020 to December 2024 using descriptive statistical methods, namely frequency distribution tables and histograms with trend lines. The results show that inflation during this five-year period predominantly remained within the low to moderate range of 1.00%–3.00%. The distribution is positively skewed, indicating that lower inflation values occurred more frequently, while higher inflation rates were relatively rare. The most frequent class interval was 1.00%–1.67%, accounting for 26.67% of the total observations, and nearly 70% of the data fell below 3.01%, reflecting relative price stability. However, temporary inflation spikes were observed between 2022 and early 2023, likely influenced by global supply chain disruptions and commodity price volatility. Overall, the findings suggest that Indonesia’s inflation remained largely controlled throughout the study period, highlighting the role of policy measures during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of simple descriptive statistical tools in identifying key characteristics and trends in macroeconomic data.
Trigarcia Maleachi RandaLoria Amisah Lubis

2026-04-302026-04-3091768610.20527/ecoplan.v9i1.1452The Moderating Role of Zakat on the Nexus between Human Development, Unemployment, and Poverty in Nusa Tenggara Barat Province
https://ecoplan.ulm.ac.id/index.php/iesp/article/view/1370

This study aims to examine the impact of the Human Development Index (HDI) and the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) on poverty in West Nusa Tenggara Province from 2019 to 2024, with Zakat serving as a moderating variable. Panel data is constructed by quantitatively combining time series data and cross-sectional data from various districts or cities utilizing secondary sources. Zakat serves as a moderating variable, whereas HDI and TPT are independent variables, with the poverty level as the dependent variable. The analysis delineates the direct and moderating impacts of zakat utilizing Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) and Eviews 12. The findings demonstrate that poverty is significantly adversely affected by the Human Development Index (HDI), suggesting that enhancing the quality of human resources can reduce poverty. Conversely, the TPT exhibits no measurable effect on poverty, likely due to the predominance of the informal sector. The moderation study indicates that zakat does not influence the relationship between TPT and poverty; instead, it can enhance the correlation between HDI and poverty alleviation. These findings underscore the importance of improving human resource quality and managing zakat efficiently to alleviate poverty.
Bunga Aulia KhafifaAnton BawonoDwi Yulia HariyaniRafidah Rizky Nasution
